For as long as I can remember I have wanted to do a boudoir shoot. You see, I was always attracted by the sexiness and glamour of it all. To me, there is nothing sexier than confidence, and what better way to show your confidence in yourself than with some sexy AF pictures! However I always had an excuse not to do it, always saying the same exact thing, “when I lose weight I will do it”. I kinda of treated it as this thing that only skinny, fit girls could get away with doing, oh to be young and naive.
Now that I am in my 30’s I have gotten better at not letting others opinions affect my outlook on life, but more importantly on my self. I have learned to love my curves and celebrate them for what they do for me, and not for what they don’t. A few months ago I was scrolling through Instagram and I came across a photo on Lane Bryant‘s Instagram account from their latest Cacique collection. Cacique is Lane Bryant’s lingerie division specifically designed for us girls with a little more plump on our bodies. As soon as I saw that picture I said to myself “no more excuses, you are doing this now!”. I immediately reached out to my friend and photographer BB by Bumby and scheduled a shoot. I then reached out to Lane Bryant, since they inspired the shoot it only made sense that I collaborate with them for it. I was beyond excited when I heard back from their team saying they were in! Their pieces from Cacique’s summer collection where simply perfect for the shoot.
To say this experience was a dream come true is an understatement! I have never felt more comfortable, sexier, empowered, liberated or sexier in my life. Especially knowing that I was doing this on my terms and for no one else, other than myself, was a very special moment! So ladies, if you have ever thought of doing one, but have felt afraid or not worthy to do one, I am telling you, you are wrong! Go for it, and let your inner goddess out, embrace every curvy, dimple and imperfection. Trust me it will be a very liberating experience! I am beyond obsessed with the end result and I hope you do too.
